There is a big influence of technique on our daily life. Electronic devices, multimedia and computers are things we have to deal with everyday.
Especially the Internet is becoming more and more important for nearly everybody as it is one of the newest and most forward-looking media and surely “the” medium of the future.
However, many people tend to give the bad impact of the internet rather than the positive effect..Let’s change over to some positive effect of the Internet.
firstly, we can create new social contacts all over the world, which you could not do so easy without the internet.
Such communities can also help people who can not go out to find friends in the real life because they are disabled. Therefore they can chat with other people via the internet. Sometimes it is also easier for people, who are afraid to look into the other’s face while talking, to chat with a person that they do not know. There is something between them which makes it easier for them to communicate. It also does not matter if you have a terrible appearance because you can pretend to be whatever you want. You can also change your gender and your age to talk about topics which you do not normally do.
However, there are no time and place limitations and there are no boundaries, both geographical and political. You can chat with people in Australia and you have freedom of your mind in a way.
In any case, everybody’s private situation is different. For many women their own children are the main reason for staying at home. Nowadays this won’t be a problem any more, you can do work on your computer at home, called tele-working. Also men take this opportunity to work at home. What are the consequences, the advantages of tele-working? Sure, if you have a family, you can spend more time at home, probably you can spend more time with your children. Next is, that you can organize every day in the way you want to. Meetings at the company are reduced to a minimum. Tele-working is also an advantage for the owner of the company. Official studies substantiate that people who work at home are more motivated than their colleagues at the office...

Teen Speak..

What exactly is an Acronym?
An acronym is a pronounceable word formed from each of the first letters of a descriptive phrase. An acronym is actually a type of abbreviation.
Here's an example of an acronym: North Atlantic Treaty Organization = NATO
Because teens seem to live in the fast lane, they've made the most of today's available technology and like generations before them have come up with their own language.
Anachronisms are nothing new, but in this digital age they've made it easy to convey more information with less keystrokes.
And since teams routinely juggle multiple chat sessions, using anachronisms enables them to keep up the jumble of bombarding messages.
Here are some typical examples of some of the more common and acronyms commonly used by teens today chat rooms rooms, text messages and on cell phones.
These anachronisms are universal across both online and in text messaging.
121: one to one
ADN: any day now
AFAIK: as far as I know
AFK: away from keyboard
A/S/L: age, sex, location
B4: before
B4N: bye for now
BF: boyfriend
BFN: bye for now
BG: big grin
BTA: but then again
BTW: by the way
CID: crying in disgrace
CNP: continued (in my) next post

Attention to mickey fans out there!!
Here, i want to share a secret. There are some gadgets that you know your girlfriend will want one the moment you show it to them. It’s not that they are in need of them, simply just attracted to the outlook. Here’s one that would melt a girl’s heart – Mickey Mouse Mp3 player. This cute little toy comes with a 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB capacity; comes in pink, blue, silver, orange, green, purple, white and black color. The size is as light as 17g, running on rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery, support continues playback up to 8 hours.I bought this mp3 today. It's really tiny, yet plays the best sound I've ever heard from an mp3, it's so unique, the best mp3 player I have ever seen>.

Nokia X6 gets Comes with Music

Nokia’s recently announced handset, the Nokia X6, looks set to take over the XpressMusic line by offering you up to 35 hours of continuous music playback before requiring a trip to the nearest power outlet. In addition, the 32GB of internal memory alongside a memory expansion slot clearly places this on par with the iPhone when it comes to being a portable audio player, barring the user experience, of course. It does claw some ground by including a slick 3.2″ finger touch interface though, boasting a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio that is optimized for photos, videos and browsing. You can also connect to the Ovi Store directly, letting you remain connected to a maximum of 20 friends and virtual communities always through your homescreen. The Nokia X6 will retail for 450 Euros before taxes and subsidies, as the Finnish cellphone manufacturer prepares to get it ready for shipping come Q4 2009.
Palm Pixi

Palm’s Pre was certainly a watershed device alongside the impressive webOS operating system, signalling new life into this ailing company that was tethering on the brink due to dropping sales and the migration to other smartphone platforms. While the Palm Pre did not do as well as many people predicted, that doesn’t take away from the capabilities of the Pre which is still able to hold its own even until today. Well, Palm has announced its second webOS-powered smartphone known as the Palm Pixi, but don’t expect any magic fairy dust to be sprinkled all over this device for an instant corporate turnaround – there’s still work to be done, but the Pixi does look like a step in the right direction.
Definition of e-learning

e-Learning. eLearning. "e"learning. However you write it, definitions abound.
Bullet The convergence of the Internet and learning, or Internet-enabled learning.
-The use of network technologies to create, foster, deliver, and facilitate learning, anytime and anywhere.
-The delivery of individualized, comprehensive, dynamic learning content in real time, aiding the development of communities of knowledge, linking learners and practitioners with experts.
-A phenomenon delivering accountability, accessibility, and opportunity to allow people and organizations to keep up with the rapid changes that define the Internet world.
-A force that gives people and organizations the competitive edge to allow them to keep ahead of the rapidly changing global economy.
With good design and delivery, e-learning does all these things. But, at its heart, it is, simply, learning. Too bad most interpretations focus on the technology (the "e") and not on the learning.
e-Learning has to keep the people it's designed for in mind. How do we learn? How do we acquire and retain skills and information to help us develop? Only when we address individual learning styles can the "e" in e-learning factor in. Then the technical side—the electronic delivery—can be adapted to the learner.
Maybe the "e" should actually follow the word "learning."
"The effectiveness of an elearners experience is greatly enhanced through student-centered (usability) design. For example, students remember more information from a text book that is well organized, with extensive visuals, reflection/interaction points, clear headings, etc. The same concepts exist for online courses—learners learn better through use of clear headings, limited distracted, visuals, screen-friendly fonts, appropriate white space, web safe colors, etc. Basically, usability is the process of testing (through observation) how students behave with a course—what works, what doesn't, what confuses." — elearnspace.org
Global Communities

An online community is a social network that uses computer support as the basis of the communication among members instead of face-to-face interaction. (Mason, R & Rennie, F, 2006). According to Wikipedia, internet is a network of networks that consists of millions of private and public, academic, business, and government networks of local to global scope that are linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections, and other technologies. It is a consistent of global system of interconnected computer networks that connects millions of people. Besides that, there are few problems that might occurs the online community which is spamming, flaming and unwanted solicitation.
The first problem that the netizen need to face with is spamming. Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. E-mail spam, also known as junk e-mail which is a subset of spam that involves nearly identical messages sent to numerous recipients by e-mail. So that, the online community such as the Government of Canada has introduced anti-spam legislation called the Electronic Commerce Protection Act at the House of Commons to fight spam to deal with spam. Besides that, as individual, to prevent the spam from spread, the netizen needs to track the source to find out where each mailer is getting the address, use false middle initials or add any phony suffixes to the name.
Secondly, flaming is a big thing in the world of cyber space of an offensive and personal attacking nature but yet so many people find this sort of behavior entertaining. No doubt everyone who has used some sort of chat method on the internet has become a victim or an aggressor of internet flaming. Flaming is when a person goes into a chat room, forum, discussion or email and deliberately causes offense to someone by personal attacks and insults, not just their opinions but everything, their personality, their lifestyle, their family and friends even if they have never met the person or know anything about them. There are a few ways to against an attack of flaming. Avoid discussions that are prone to flamers or flaming wars. If someone posting a topic that is controversial issue, and as politely as the individual should avoid from joining the discussion as this will prevent people from attacking them.
Unwanted solicitation is one of the problem that the community online need to deal with. For instance, we have received a message from unknown person that provide games through online. When we play the games and reply to the unknown person, without we realized our credit was decrease because of that games. So, it is called unwanted solicitation because the unknown person did not include the terms and condition towards the games that provided. Consequently, the community would ignore the unwanted solicitation by not easily trust any message that have no terms and condition.
To sum up, the internet is become necessary in a daily life that provides fast communication and information. In spite of that, the online community should be aware of the problems that might occur them when using the internet service like spamming, flaming and unwanted solicitations. In these day and age, the online community have been acknowledge on how to deals with those problem. Thus, they know face the problem as well as they can use the internet easily without worried about those problem because they know what to do if they got spamming, flaming and unwanted solicitations
What is Podcast?
Making a Podcast
The first thing that we need to consider is what is needed to pull a podcast off. There are 3 things needed; a headset with a noise canceling microphone, a MP3 voice recorder, and a podcasting software (CNET). Audacity is suggested podcasting software because it is a open source software that can record and play sounds and import and export WAV, AIFF, MP3, and OGG files. It can also edit your sounds using cut, copy, and paste features, mix tracks, or apply effects to your recordings (Audacity).
The next key step is to record the podcast. It is important to be careful because a technical glitch can ruin a good podcast. You should do a short recording so that you can test the audio settings and see the quality of the finished product that you will be receiving in the end. At this point you need to be very careful of what you are including because copyright laws do apply (CNET).
The next step will be to publish your edited version of your podcast to a FTP site or a website that supports podcasts. If a FTP site isn’t accessible to you Cnet states “A good place to start is Ourmedia.org. For now, it’s free and doesn’t limit file bandwidth, but the site screens all podcasts and will remove any content it deems inappropriate.” Once it is published and posted you should test it to make sure users can find the podcast that has been posted.
What is Spam?

Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products, get-rich-quick schemes, or quasi-legal services. Spam costs the sender very little to send -- most of the costs are paid for by the recipient or the carriers rather than by the sender.
There are two main types of spam, and they have different effects on Internet users. Cancellable Usenet spam is a single message sent to 20 or more Usenet newsgroups. (Through long experience, Usenet users have found that any message posted to so many newsgroups is often not relevant to most or all of them.) Usenet spam is aimed at "lurkers", people who read newsgroups but rarely or never post and give their address away. Usenet spam robs users of the utility of the newsgroups by overwhelming them with a barrage of advertising or other irrelevant posts. Furthermore, Usenet spam subverts the ability of system administrators and owners to manage the topics they accept on their systems.
Email spam targets individual users with direct mail messages. Email spam lists are often created by scanning Usenet postings, stealing Internet mailing lists, or searching the Web for addresses. Email spams typically cost users money out-of-pocket to receive. Many people - anyone with measured phone service - read or receive their mail while the meter is running, so to speak. Spam costs them additional money. On top of that, it costs money for ISPs and online services to transmit spam, and these costs are transmitted directly to subscribers.
One particularly nasty variant of email spam is sending spam to mailing lists (public or private email discussion forums.) Because many mailing lists limit activity to their subscribers, spammers will use automated tools to subscribe to as many mailing lists as possible, so that they can grab the lists of addresses, or use the mailing list as a direct target for their attacks.
Some information about Flaming
Flaming is a big nuisance on the internet, anybody can fall victim to it without cause and can easily start a flame war. Here's what, why, when, how, what a flame war is and some ways to prevent it from happening to you and if it does, ways to deal with it.
What Flaming is:
Flaming is when a person goes into a chat room, forum, discussion or email and deliberately causes offense to someone by personal attacks and insults, not just their opinions but everything, their personality, their lifestyle, their family and friends even if they have never met the person or know anything about them.
What Flaming isn't:
Someone placing their views, opinions on a discussion even if they disagree with another's point of view. A simple way to put it is if the disagreement is about the person views on the specific topic and not an attack on the person in general, it is not classified as flaming.
Why people do it:
For a number of reasons usually because some people think it is fun to insult people and get great entertainment out of annoying or angering them or even starting a flame war where others just are mad at the world and will take it out on anyone in their path, usually they just like show their authority.
When and how:
People can personally insult another anywhere and at any time on the internet whether it be by email, instant messages, web forums, chat rooms, discussion boards and anywhere else you can possibly think of and it usually ends up in a flame war.
Flame wars:
A flame war is usually a throwing of back and forth insulting messages from one or more persons. Sometimes a whole forum or discussion board can get into it and all hell breaks loose. Flame wars usually start when a person makes an insulting comment to another (flame bait) and waits for their aggravated reply. Some people who take part in flame wars find it amusing and there are actually many web sites out there hosting techniques on winning though many who fall victim to it unwillingly and feel that they must retaliate and stand up for themselves.
Ways to prevent flaming
There are a few ways to prevent yourself against an attack of flaming. If someone posts flame bait never reply to it no matter how much it offends or angers you. Avoid discussions that are prone to flamers or flaming wars. If you are posting to a topic that is controversial say it tastefully and as politely as you can as this will deter people from attacking you.
Dealing with flaming:
If you fall victim to flaming as with prevention try to ignore it, go do something else for a while, read a book or something and go back later when you have cooled down and nine times out of ten the person who was insulting you would have got bored and moved on, this goes the same for flaming wars, try and ease yourself out of the discussions and go back again later when things in there have cooled down or go somewhere else that isn't so easily hostile, there are plenty of sites out there that cater for any topic of conversation.
Flaming is one of the major down points of the internet, but when you understand what it is, how it works and how you can prevent it, it can make your time on the internet that much more enjoyable.

My opinion on comparison between Search Engine Ask.com and Bing.com

1. History
Bing is a replacement for Live Search. Bing was formerly Live Search, Windows Live Search, MSN Search is the current web search engine (advertised as a "decision engine") from Microsoft. It is unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on May 28, 2009 at the All Things Digital conference in San Diego It went fully online on June 3, 2009, with a preview version released on June 1, 2009. In its first few weeks Bing was successful in gaining some market share. On July 29, 2009, Microsoft and Yahoo! announced a deal in which Bing would power Yahoo! Search.
Ask.com was originally known as Ask Jeeves, where "Jeeves" is the name of the "gentleman's personal gentleman", or valet (illustrated by Marcos Sorensen), fetching answers to any question asked. The character was based on Jeeves. The original idea behind Ask Jeeves was to allow users to get answers to questions posed in everyday, natural language, as well as traditional keyword searching. The current Ask.com still supports this, with added support for math, dictionary, and conversion questions. Ask.com headquarters in Oakland, CA. In 2005, the company announced plans to phase out Jeeves. On February 27, 2006 the character disappeared from Ask.com.
2. Interface
In terms of Interface, Bing tends to change their background image daily. The images are mostly of remarkable places in the world and it is very attractive. The background image also contains information about the elements shown in the image. Besides that, we can view the information by hovering over the image. The background images can be switched off and switched on.
The content sectioning of results in placed on separate section for wallpaper, map, weather, fan sites and more. For the left side navigation pane, its includes navigation and, on results pages, related searches and prior searches. For the right side extended preview with list of relevant or important urls from within the article. Besides that, sublinks, on certain search results, the search result page also shows section links within the article for example, wikepedia.
Apart from that, Bing also provides media features which are video thumbnail preview where, by hovering over a video thumbnail, the video automatically starts playing. Then, Image search with continuous scrolling images results page that has adjustable settings for size, layout, color, style and people. Interestingly, Bing provide video search with adjustable setting for length, screen size, resolution and source.
Ask.com is very different with Bing in term of interface. It is because Ask.com used the same image background everyday. The logo that used by ask.com was the caricature of Jeeves and it is quite similar from 1996 until now. For me, it is quite bored to see the same image every day and the image was not really interesting.
In contrast to Bing, the features of Ask.com was simply include the web, image, news, and dictionary searches, the ability to save and share web pages and images, personalizable news feeds ranging from local to international, weather forecasts, stock portfolios, maps, and related services.
3. Time
From my experience using Bing and Ask.com to find information on the internet, I found that Bing perform faster than Ask.com. Besides that, the quality of result shows by Bing also good compared to Ask.com that shows the result sometimes the word redundant with each other and it is can waste our time to find the information. So, I would prefer Bing rather than Ask.com to find information on the internet because it is easier and can save my time as well.
