My opinion on comparison between Search Engine Ask.com and Bing.com

1. History
Bing is a replacement for Live Search. Bing was formerly Live Search, Windows Live Search, MSN Search is the current web search engine (advertised as a "decision engine") from Microsoft. It is unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on May 28, 2009 at the All Things Digital conference in San Diego It went fully online on June 3, 2009, with a preview version released on June 1, 2009. In its first few weeks Bing was successful in gaining some market share. On July 29, 2009, Microsoft and Yahoo! announced a deal in which Bing would power Yahoo! Search.
Ask.com was originally known as Ask Jeeves, where "Jeeves" is the name of the "gentleman's personal gentleman", or valet (illustrated by Marcos Sorensen), fetching answers to any question asked. The character was based on Jeeves. The original idea behind Ask Jeeves was to allow users to get answers to questions posed in everyday, natural language, as well as traditional keyword searching. The current Ask.com still supports this, with added support for math, dictionary, and conversion questions. Ask.com headquarters in Oakland, CA. In 2005, the company announced plans to phase out Jeeves. On February 27, 2006 the character disappeared from Ask.com.

2. Interface
In terms of Interface, Bing tends to change their background image daily. The images are mostly of remarkable places in the world and it is very attractive. The background image also contains information about the elements shown in the image. Besides that, we can view the information by hovering over the image. The background images can be switched off and switched on.
The content sectioning of results in placed on separate section for wallpaper, map, weather, fan sites and more. For the left side navigation pane, its includes navigation and, on results pages, related searches and prior searches. For the right side extended preview with list of relevant or important urls from within the article. Besides that, sublinks, on certain search results, the search result page also shows section links within the article for example, wikepedia.
Apart from that, Bing also provides media features which are video thumbnail preview where, by hovering over a video thumbnail, the video automatically starts playing. Then, Image search with continuous scrolling images results page that has adjustable settings for size, layout, color, style and people. Interestingly, Bing provide video search with adjustable setting for length, screen size, resolution and source.

Ask.com is very different with Bing in term of interface. It is because Ask.com used the same image background everyday. The logo that used by ask.com was the caricature of Jeeves and it is quite similar from 1996 until now. For me, it is quite bored to see the same image every day and the image was not really interesting.
In contrast to Bing, the features of Ask.com was simply include the web, image, news, and dictionary searches, the ability to save and share web pages and images, personalizable news feeds ranging from local to international, weather forecasts, stock portfolios, maps, and related services.

3. Time
From my experience using Bing and Ask.com to find information on the internet, I found that Bing perform faster than Ask.com. Besides that, the quality of result shows by Bing also good compared to Ask.com that shows the result sometimes the word redundant with each other and it is can waste our time to find the information. So, I would prefer Bing rather than Ask.com to find information on the internet because it is easier and can save my time as well.
